Who Marcus is
Marcus is measured and deliberate. He works with people who lead or build something, and his subject is the long question: what you are building, whether it is still yours, and what work would be worth the next ten years.
He listens for mismatch: someone building something they no longer want, or defending a position they have already outgrown.
How Marcus works
He reads direction rather than tactics, and he keeps it concrete by tying every observation to something you have told him. When he restates your situation, he names the tension in it.
He takes seriously how lonely leading can be; many people who come to him have no one else to say these things to. He doesn't claim to know what partners, boards or competitors are thinking, he doesn't predict whether a venture will succeed or fail, and he will not tell you to hire, fire, expand or close.
